I am behind in updating my company blog for two big reasons and several small ones.
- I revamped my website. Thank you, Nipun Trivedi and the entire Frogiez team for your fast, high-quality work. For my new site visuals, I worked with Kate Wark, a photographer and branding expert. I had such a positive experience that I immediately signed up for family photos. (You will see one of my favorites on this page.)
- I am writing a novel. This has been a dream of mine since age 11. Actually, it is more than a dream. It has felt like an inevitability. In early January, I accepted that I am not going to write a novel unless I write a novel if you know what I mean. To help me with process and plot, I enrolled in The Ninety Day Novel course through The Novelry. To add an element of risk and pressure, I have told clients, friends, and family about my intentions. To free up time and creative space for the project, I cut my client workload in half. This was a scary decision, but it feels right. Last week, I read “The War of Art” by Steven Pressfield. (That is not an affiliate link but may become one if I don’t sell my book.;) I wish I had read it 15 years ago. I recommend it to anyone putting off a creative or entrepreneurial dream.
Now for the smaller reasons. I have been busy with work projects, such as:
- Guest lecturing about branded content to a digital literacy class at Wesleyan University.
- Speaking at the Brand Storytelling Virtual Conference.
- Creating monthly content for the Inc. 5000 Community, a digital space designed exclusively for founders of Inc. 5000 companies.
- Finishing out a year-long content creation partnership with Sapience, a workforce analytics SaaS company.
- Writing two articles for Boston Globe magazine’s “Future of Medicine” issue.
- Partnering with One Strategy Group and Spring Health on a thought leadership program.
- Writing articles in partnership with Inc. and Hiscox, Intuit, and Inc. 5000 honorees.
- Writing special sections about HR tech.
- Writing an in-depth piece on the upcoming European Accessbility Act (EAA).
- Working on a multi-piece content project for Inc. and Capital One Business about entrepreneurs’ appetite for risk.
Personal highlights from the last few months include:
- The holidays, obviously.
- Skiing Stratton, Vermont, and Sunday River, Maine (pictured below).
- Riding an ebike in Prospect Park in Brooklyn with my sister, Kit.
- Spending time with my two kids and nine nieces and nephews (welcome baby Madison!).
- Soulshine at MSG (Goooooose, DMB, Nathaniel Rateliff, and more).
- Cheer comps, swim meets, and soccer games all over New England.
- Adding Kickfit classes to my exercise routine.
- Irish sessions at my sister Bre’s.
If you are reading this, thank you.
