Yikes, it’s October. Here’s a real fast work-and-life update, Q&A style.
Q: Why haven’t you posted a blog article in so long?
A: I’ve been busy!
Q: Busy with what?
A: I don’t like your tone, but I’ll answer. I’ve been working on my first novel and reaching out to agents to find the right partner for representation, with help from The Novelry, a fiction writing school. The story is wild and weird, and I love it, and I hope I get to share it with readers soon.
I’ve also been working on a second novel, writing profiles of companies that rank on the 2026 Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing businesses, and serving as the community content creator for the Inc. 5000 Community, a digital platform built by Inc. in partnership with Capital One Business for founders and CEOs of Inc. 5000 companies. Occasionally, we repurpose those stories for Inc.com. You can find them here.
Other recent projects include:
- Sponsored content projects, including articles for Bank of America and GS1 US
- A special section on the future of HR that ran in print and online
- A deep-dive on the future of media for the Association of National Advertisers
I’ve also been volunteering through the National Charity League (NCL), delivering food to people in need through Meals on Wheels and co-organizing a community bake sale to raise money for the charities NCL supports.
Q: Do you ever do anything fun?
A: Yes! I took some time off this summer and traveled to Rome, Florence, and Lake Garda with my husband and two children. It was epic, and I’m craving time in other European cities. I’m particularly missing London lately. Earlier this month, I went to Vermont with some girlfriends. We had one of my favorite meals of the year at Crooked Ram in Manchester, then rotted on the couch with wine. Oh, my daughter and I saw Olivia Rodrigo in Hartford, and she was incredible. I want to see her again in Brooklyn next year.
Q: Have you read anything good lately?
A: Yes! The Circle and The Every, both by Dave Eggers, The Compound by Aisling Rawle, Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell, Yesteryear (of course!) by Caro Claire Burke, and The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. I’m about to read Vigil by George Saunders (I met him back when I worked at Penguin!) and Land by Maggie O’Farrell for my neighborhood book club. I’m currently reading How to Manifest by Lacy Phillips (because it can’t hurt to try!) and In Five Years by Rebecca Serle.
Q: How are your kids?
A: Great, thanks for asking! Juliette is in eighth grade. She fractured the growth plate in her ankle last week, sadly, but she’s impressing me with her positivity and determination to heal fast. She’s a competitive cheerleader, and this is comp season, so the injury is ill-timed. Colin’s in fifth grade and enjoying soccer and flag football. Tomorrow the three of us are playing hooky to see the Michael Jackson musical on Broadway. (Don’t tell anyone.)
Q: What are your goals for the rest of the year?
A: I want to continue to make progress in my journey to book publication, enjoy the process of writing novel number two, plan a trip that requires a flight, ski in Vermont, do some more solid client work, and enjoy the holidays. (We’re hosting Christmas this year.)
Q: Could you share a photo?
A: Sure. Here’s Matt and me posing on a street in Gardone Riviera. The photo above with the horse was taken at Il Borro resort in Tuscany.

If you’re reading this, thanks for sticking around. Wishing you a happy and healthy end to 2026. And if you know a literary agent who loves wild and weird books, send them my way. <Insert angel baby emoji>
