Diary Update from a Writer for Hire

February 28, 2024

Hiya fans of content creation, branding, marketing strategy, naming, thought leadership… what else is it I do? I am feeling a bit loopy after uploading more than a dozen new projects to my portfolio. Sharing these assignments feels like a victory lap. I really am a Lucky Jack (see above photo).

    Recent projects include:

    • Ongoing content for the Inc. Growth Network, an exclusive community for Inc. 5000 founders
    • Lots of branded content for Inc. mag
    • A fun naming collaboration with the branding agency River + Wolf for a television network
    • Ghostwriting a handful of thought leadership pieces for a number of super smart (super busy) execs
    • My first podcast appearance
    • Email marketing support for a SaaS company
    • Company awards submissions for a home health care company (and two wins)
    • Many a story for ANA magazine about advertising news, trends, and best practices, including a three-part series on data privacy

I kicked off 2024 with a partnership with the boutique marketing, brand and product strategy firm Exxential. Together, we are running a long-term engagement with Sapience Analytics, a global leader helping enterprises optimize capacity management with automated workforce analytics. I am taking the lead on creating ebooks, blog articles, brochures, case studies, and website copy while providing ongoing ad hoc editing support to Sapience’s lovely marketing team. I am project managing the engagement, as well, so Q1 2024 has been incredibly busy.

Some cool personal happenings since I last wrote in September (yes, I write incomplete sentences on purpose sometimes):

    • A trip with friends from high school and college to Chicago
    • A Thanksgiving 5K with the fam
    • Flag football games, cheerleading comps, swim meets, soccer tournaments, play practices, and basketball games (You think I’m busy? Meet my kids.)
    • A Dave Matthews Band show at MSG
    • Book club with Juliette
    • Guster at the Ridgefield Playhouse
    • Orebolo at Capital Theater
    • Sunset Boulevard at ACT Theater
    • An epic holiday party at our house
    • Skiing with friends and family at Stratton, Sunday River, and a small local mountain
    • The Frozen Feet Challenge. I walked a mile every day in January… but I didn’t realize the challenge went until mid-Feb so I didn’t actually complete it.
    • Our first-ever trip to Utah to ski Deer Valley and Snowbird
    • The Invention Convention at school (congrats to Juliette and Colin for both earning awards)

In the midst of all this, JR Lisk, Inc. turned 10. (HBD, me.) I am using the work anniversary as an impetus to set new goals. Stay tuned.

I leave you and the future me (who is the one most likely to be reading this, I imagine) with some photo highlights.
